What a good website needs: a 15-point checklist

Go through the list and check your site. If it meets only a few points, it is probably losing visitors and enquiries.

✅ A good site does three things

It explains who you are and what you do, builds trust and leads the visitor to the next step. Everything else is detail. The list below has three parts: content, technology and trust.

📝 Content and message

  1. A clear message on the first screen. In five seconds it must be obvious what you offer and to whom.
  2. A separate page for each important service. One "Services" page with everything does not rank well.
  3. Copy that answers customers' questions, not only describes the company.
  4. A clear call to action. Call, write on Viber or WhatsApp, book.
  5. FAQ that removes doubts: price, deadline, how you work.

⚙️ Technology

  1. A mobile version that comes first, not as an add-on.
  2. Fast loading. Also read about Core Web Vitals.
  3. HTTPS on every page.
  4. Clean URLs without needless numbers and parameters.
  5. Basic SEO: a unique title and meta description, one H1, heading structure, sitemap.
  6. Structured data (schema) for the business, FAQ and services.

🤝 Trust

  1. Real company details: name, address, contact, and ideally the people behind the company.
  2. References and client testimonials, as specific as possible.
  3. Privacy policy and terms of use.
  4. Fast contact: Viber, WhatsApp, form and e-mail, visible on every page.

🔧 How to use the list

Give one point for every item met. Under 8 means the site is seriously lagging. Usually you start with the cheapest: a clear message, a call to action, FAQ. Then speed and SEO. For an expert assessment see SEO optimisation.
